Large Animal Veterinary Professional Services Manager
Dr. Hoyt Cheramie grew up on a 300-head cattle ranch in Mississippi, where he began developing what would become a lifelong interest in veterinary medicine. He received his B.S. in Dairy Production in 1990 and his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 1993, both from Louisiana State University. After acquiring some experience in private practice in Central Kentucky, he completed a large animal internship at the University of Tennessee in 1995, and a combined Large Animal Surgery Residency and Masters program at the Virginia–Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Surgeons in 2000.
Dr. Cheramie is currently the Large Animal Veterinary Professional Services Manager for the Midwest Region for Merial, one of the world’s leading animal health companies. His professional interests include surgical and medical colic management, guttural pouch disease, sustainable parasite control, podiatry and performance limiting problems including subtle lameness, EGUS and upper airway obstruction. In his spare time, he enjoys hunting, coaching 4-H shooting sports, and spending time with his family.
